Patience is a virtue, never truer than when one is waiting for the mail. Practice your patience by stitching this rustic mailbox, add a little snail, and complete a garden of heirloom flowers – the hollyhock, clematis, ruffled petunia and Rosalie’s original MilleFlower. With the new picotee butterfly, you’ll find three different ideas that can be used anywhere. --and of course, there’s a little kitten hidden among the flowers, also waiting patiently! When you have finished and framed your design, attach cup hooks at either the bottom or lower front of the frame, hang the finished piece next to your front door and you’ll be ready to collect your snail mail as soon as it is delivered.
The kitten is stitched with an easy version of thread painting. Rosalie’s picot cast-on stitch adapts itself to an original picotee butterfly on this design and you’ll learn how to fill the center space in a looping lazy daisy as well as the fly-stitch/bullion tack combo for the antennae and body. An interesting idea for sttiching realistic hollyhocks is presented, and delightfully simple needleweaving is used for the clematis. You’ll finish your embroidery by stitching ruffled petunias, the MIlleFlower, and a little snail (made with either a bullion rose variation or a little snail charm or bead).
The message says it all, and pretty new flowers allow the stitcher to try it all!
Depending on stitch placement, the same trio of stitches creates three entirely different focal flowers - the Stella d’Oro daylily, Pinwheel, and the Stop Anytime.
A new technique for creating wisteria blossoms will delight you with its simplicity, and you’ll enjoy stitching the new Mexicali rose, as well as harlequin roses, delicate little sweetheart roses, daisies, little barbies and more.
It’s like playing in your own private garden!
Design: 10” circular
The Brazilian Dimensional Embroidery International Guild's Flower of the Year for 2014 brings us Daisy.
Daisy is a little burrito. She wears ruffled bobby socks and purple patent leather shoes. She has daisies in her hair and a colorful mane. --and she gathers a festive burro bouquet.
Her flower collection begins with a Mexicali Rose made with another variation of Rosalie’s “Comma”, the Mexican Sunflower, Margarita Daisies, Salsa Cups, Burrito Blossoms and little Taco Bells stitched with Rosalie’s original woven picot bullion and cast-on pistil stitches.
The Picotee butterfly enchants Daisy with its new version of the picot cast-on that introduces a new idea for filling the space in a looping cast-on, plus the combination fly-stitch/bullion for body and antennae.
If you enjoyed stitching Millefiori design #999 "TooT", you will have just as much fun with our little Daisy.
Design: 5” x 7"
As she daydreams and watches the progress of a ladybug family, this young girl finds her dreams filled with flowers: a plumeria in her hair, michelmas daisies, fizzy stick flowers, Rosalie Wakefield’s picot rose, scarlet paintbrush, twinkle bells, little rosey posey, fan lily, blue-eyed peas and bachelors buttons.
Choose Iris or Frost to go with Glory to stitch the new Picotee butterflies and lazy daisy birdies perched on an overhead flower stem as they sing her daydreams.
Design: 6” x 7.5”- $12.00
Temporarily out of print:
This delightful little Brazilian embroidery design is the size of a CD. It can be finished as an ornament, backed with a second CD, or it would make a lovely cover design for an iPad, reader or jewelry box.
You’ll dance your way through some floral delights – the Interlude Rose, Three to Tango (a variation of the Bossa Nova), the Can-Can (a new technique with naughty ruffles), Vienna Rose (made with spiral lace), Staccato (a brand new drizzle), Fox (Trot) Grass, and the Hokey Pokey – all versatile, lighter-floss-weight flowers that can be stitched anywhere.
Design: 5” circular on 12” x 12” fabric
When you name a design “South of the Border”, your color choices are endless - vivid, pastel, lively, muted - and you can truly make this design your own by selecting a favorite color palette.
If you like the challenge of learning new flowers, there are lots of new flower techniques here and a different leaf to go with each. The lacelike chiffon lilies are stitched with a variation of my “Archie drizzle” technique and stamens are added with the new cast-on pistil stitch. The fan flower is made with a bullion-woven buttonhole stitch, the colors quietly echoed in its leaf veins. Amazon asters sway in the gentle southern breeze, and you'll stitch the lollipop lily, Argentine weeping lilies and the rain lily – all with new techniques that can be used on other designs. The teacup flower collects cast-on stitches and bullions together, so you can have your afternoon "cuppa" right here among the flowers.
Design: 5” x 7” on 10” x 12” fabric
Breeze through this Brazilian embroidery design and finish it as a small art quilt or pillow – wind chimes gently singing in the wind, each flower ready for stitching on any other design. Swaying to the music is a family of owls – mom and dad ready to step out onto the dance floor (or in this case a tree branch), a young teenage owl listening to her own music on her smart phone, and a young swinging owl on a swing, just swinging. Butterflies and Glory Be! s dance in the sky and a garden filled with flowers, weeds and grounded creatures – can you find them? – a mouse, ladybug, snail and kitten - just enjoy themselves.
You’ll have so much fun stitching the wildlife that you might forget the flowers, but don’t! They are the best part – different techniques on each of the garden flowers, and each wind chime featuring a variety of stitch combinations. Some stitches are the chain stitch, detached buttonhole stem stitch, knotted loop, Little Archie, lollipop, lopsided lazy daisy, needle weaving (three different ideas),new cast-on pistil stitch, reverse colonial knot, reverse lazy daisy, satin stitch with Lola, side fly, star-fill and the comma.

Beautiful botanical gardens are found throughout the world. Native plants and flowers of the Pacific Northwest inspire “Crystal Springs”, a tribute to one of Oregon’s many lovely gardens. Waterfalls and a spring-fed lake provide habitat for waterfowl as visitors stroll along garden paths, enjoying the spectacular rhododendrons and azaleas that bloom from March through June.
A great blue heron, “Portland’s Official Bird” wades in shallow waters, drawing visitors through the garden to admire floral treasures of nature. Dragonflies flutter by at “beak level” hiding behind a lovely camellia and ridged blanket stitch ferns.
Stitchers will learn the new “Lollipop Stitch” to make water hyacinths. Catkins in the red alder trees are also stitched with an interesting new technique. You'll stitch realistic alder or birch tree trunks and branches, adding foliage with the original continuous drizzle. Realistic waterfalls and streams, rocks and other natural elements are included. Crystal Springs also includes the lovely mountain laurel, Douglas fir tree, hosta and a native wildflower, the trillium, all encircled by the String of Pearls border made with bullions and the reverse colonial knot.
Two companion prints are available for this design -- Millefiori design #817 "The Waterlilies of Claude Monet" and #842 "Covered Bridge".
Design: 8” circular on 15” x 15” fabric, medium blue only.
This simply stitched design may be framed or made into a pillow suitable for a wedding or christening. Additional traceable letters are included if the stitcher wishes to change the date or add initials.
Stem and outline stitch are used to create the bell, ribbon and letters. The edge of the bell is stitched with cast-on stitches, a tiny bead nestled within each. Buds are made with cast-on stitches and a loop of beads for added sparkle.
The ribbon is stitched with Glory and edged with the Reverse Colonial Knot (my preferred substitute for a French knot) - instructions included. The flowers at the top of the bell are made with a variation of my original stitch technique, the Canada’s Rose.
Design: 9½” x 9½” on 15” x 15” fabric
Developed from over 200 Millefiori embroidery designs and more than seven of Rosalie Wakefield’s books on Brazilian embroidery, including Take A Stitch, a new spin is now added to familiar stitches as hundreds of innovative ideas fill the pages in My Book of Stitches.
This collection of dimensional embroidery ideas is meant to inspire other stitchers toward designing and creativity and may be used on any project – crazy quilts, wearable items or needlework for the home. Visit my blog at http://rosaliewakefield-millefiori.blogspot.com/ Patterns to use with some of the flowers and stitches will be posted periodically.

An elephant is a nice place for flowers.
For one thing, an elephant holds a LOT of flowers. For another, it’s a good location for “extra” flowers that didn’t fit any other design. Meadowfoam is one such flower – easily stitched with bullions and cast-on stitches, but with a different sort of arrangement.
Other new flowers with simple stitches, re-arranged, include the large spiral flower and its double cast-on drizzle center, trumpet flower, rocket vine, prim-rose, nose rose and Ele-bun flowers, all named suitably for this elegant elephant who is also wearing a fascinator (hat) in the English Princess style, made with a variation of the Globe Amaranth flower from Rosalie’s book, My LadyFlowers.
Oops! We almost forgot the “Eeek Factor”, a sweet little mouse admiring the flowers its friend is wearing.
If you enjoy stitching "TooT", look for the new Millefiori design #8009 "Daisy" ... the little burro and the elephant go together just like Republicans and Democrats!
Cloud Nine is the flowering dogwood tree, Cornus florida 'Cloud 9'.
A very durable flower petal, perfect for wearable items, crazy quilt motifs, or made into a Christmas ornament, is created with a new version of a combination cast-on and bullion stitch, but the most interesting part of the flower petal is the use of a drizzle, attached before finishing.
Dogwood blossoms have a lighter, pale yellow or green center vein, but I’ve used the darker color to bring more definition. In addition to stitching this flower – easily finished in an afternoon or evening – you will learn to make the Millefiori original border, the Interlocking Stem Stitch. This flower was introduced and is the same as the dogwood blossom on the “B.E. A Tree” design.
Design: 3” x 3½” on 8” x 8” fabric
Brazilian embroider a tree, but not just any tree. It’s a DOGwood tree. This dogwood has each of its flower petals stitched with a new technique for a notched leaf and a connected drizzle center vein.
You probably saw the lovely floral Heather-Scottie right away, but there’s also a Guard-en Dog, a Poodle Puff, and the new Pom-Pom Pomeranian hanging for dear life out of the reach of those cats. You'll also stitch King Arf-ur and Sir Barks-A-Lot (aka Barky), and traceable floral patterns are included so you can stitch each of these doggie flowers without the ears and eyes.
This design features several new, original techniques – the new cast-on pistil stitch, knotted double loop, bubble backstitch, and the tree -- simply stitched with over-dyed Nova using stem and outline stitches, and this time the cats have treed the dogs, waiting in joyful anticipation to see which doggie they can capture first.
Design: 7” x 8” on 10” x 12” fabric
As the seasons change, lilacs burst into bloom and butterflies visit a garden with gazebo. A flower-strewn path along the meandering stream includes loosestrife, red clover, ferns and little umbrella plants.
Lilacs are stitched with the original lilac cluster technique from the Millefiori design, “Seasons of the Butterfly”. Other stitches used are the comma, the ridged blanket stitch, twisted chain, chain stitch filling, double outline stitch and herringbone-style leaves which self-pad with each pass of the needle through the fabric. You’ll also learn an intriguing way of adding a whole bank of flowers to a design with just one stitch. Dainty clover petals are stitched with Glory and the #15 milliners needle. If you like stitching with lighter-weight floss, such as Iris and Glory, this is the class for you!
Design: 6” x 6” on 10” x 10” fabric
Nine entirely new dimensional roses in this Brazilian embroidery design are Crescendo, Damask, Spider Rose, Marco Polo, Double Delight, Moondance, Tropicana, Heirloom, and Applause. Roses are accented with side flowers and framed with a double thread running stitch border as the original Millefiori Mossy Branches twine around all.
You’ll stitch easy variations of the zigzag cast-on, two different versions of the piggyback cast-on, the new pistil stitch, the comma, RM couching, as well as the up-down cast-on, the wrap ‘n gather technique, reverse colonial knot (a preferred French knot substitute), raised close herringbone, padded herringbone-style stitch, an original woven buttonhole bullion and more ideas to use on your other embroidery.
Each of these flowers can be stitched as a separate motif for a wearable item or stitched on a crazy quilt, or the design may be incorporated as an art quilt or framed for your garden room.
Design: 13" x 13" on 18" x 18" fabric cut
Do you remember the original B.E. pistil stitch used for the Geron Daisy? Well, the new Cast-on Pistil Stitch is worked exactly opposite! Bring the needle up at the “knot”, cast on instead of wrapping! Easy as pie!!
There are three separate pocket-sized designs on one fabric print! That’s only $4 for each 3” x 3” design. Cut them apart for wearable items, crazy quilt motifs, for framing, or just for fun!
Perfect for classes!!
OK, it might look “busy,” but you will have a smile on your face as you fall face down into this Brazilian dimensional embroidery field of colorful flowers.

A day in the country brings a sense of peace and relaxation as the needle artist wanders among delightful flowers in the landscape.
This Brazilian dimensional embroidery design features Charlotte’s Lace Flower, the double raised close herringbone stitch, up-down cast-on, a B.E. version of Erica Wilson’s raised cup stitch, Rosalie's new butterfly knot that will surprise you with its simplicity, and the exciting new Ceylon border stitch.
6” circular design
The Crepe Paper Roses on this Brazilian dimensional embroidery design are new. Use coordinating color shades, variegated floss or just one color and stitch one crinkly paper rose with Frost and a #3 milliners needle and another with Lola, using a #1 milliners needle.
“Reverie” is a condition of daydreaming while awake – and you will be free to pursue dreamy, fanciful notions of other projects where you can stitch these delightful paper roses. This design is available on white fabric only.
“Reverie” is framed by Rosalie’s ever-popular and original Bouclé border stitch. Background leaves and swirls are stitched with Ciré and Iris and a mated pair of swans, simply stitched with satin stitch and blanket stitch, add grace and beauty to this small landscape embroidery.
Softest pastels in pink, yellow and blue frame the fragrant Rosa ballerina, a musk rose with clusters of single, five-petal flowers edged in a darker shade of pink, and nestled in surrounding blanket-stitched leaves. The heart of the rose is stitched with Rosalie’s original “snowball” technique and a drizzle variation for the stamens is credited to B.E. Designer/Instructor Loretta Holzberger for a technique she developed.

It’s wonderful to have lots of arms and legs. Think of the stitching you can do! This Crazy-Lace Octopus, Olivia, has put each of her eight arms to good use, embellishing her personal ‘wearable” with crazy patch stitches and lacy petticoats that peek from beneath her hemline. After she does her hair and dons her pearls, she decorates her undersea home with elegant Brazilian dimensional embroidery stitches. A Floss Tail Fish is made with Fluffy Ruffles, two versions of the drizzle and Millefiori’s original Piggyback Cast-on.
Seaweed waves in undersea breezes and spiraling folded drizzle sponges offer shade for a simply-stitched oyster, the source of her pearls. Sea anemones, ruffled starfish, a conch shell and “Stretch, the SeaSnail” pause to admire her artistry, which features variations of the rolled rose, needle woven bullions, Star-fill, feathers, fishies and fishing flies.
Olivia has a friend, a companion print named Claudia, the Calico Crab (Millefiori #972). Both designs have some stitches and features in common, yet both are quite different. One similarity, though, is those little jellyfish. Olivia’s jellyfish is Jill Jellyfish (…and Claudia’s jellyfish is named Jack Jellyfish). Jill is stitched in pink and lavender with new twisty folded drizzle tentacles and automatic couching. Her petticoats are running cast-on stitches and she is wearing her diamond earrings and tiara.
A stitch guide and finishing suggestions are included with all Millefiori designs. This is an intermediate-advanced level Brazilian embroidery design.
Design: 7” x 9”
Who would have thought it? A crafty crab with crafting skills!! Claudia, our little CQ cutie, sidles along the seafloor, bringing her embroidery along as she embellishes her own garb with the Rosebud Knot, Sand Tulips, Sunny Susan, bright-eyed Swimmy Fish and interesting, simple crazy quilt border stitches.
When Claudia’s not stitching conch shells, starfish and Bouclé barnacles, she sashays across the seafloor sideways to dine on pasta coral. New stitch-techniques complete manicotti, mostacholi and mac-and-cheese munchies garnished with pearls and gold charlotte seed beads, all served with a side order of two cleverly-stitched, realistic clams. Claudia’s dining room curtains are decorated with waving, bead-embellished sea grass and RM Couching.
Claudia is not alone in her watery wonderland of stitch delights. Just above her and almost hidden in the bullion-enhanced seaweed lurks the rare but well-known Needle-Threader Fish that is in danger of being lured into oblivion by a bobber with wiggle worm attached.
Claudia has a friend, a Millefiori companion design, #973 Olivia, A Crazy-Lace Octopus. Both designs have some stitches and features in common, yet both are quite different. One similarity, though, is the little jellyfish. Claudia’s jellyfish is Jack Jellyfish (…and Olivia’s jellyfish is named Jill Jellyfish.) He’s stitched in blues and lavenders with new twisty folded drizzle tentacles and automatic couching, and he’s dressed with running bullions, satin and outline stitch. These designs can be perfectly framed in shadow boxes with agates, charms and other sea treasures.
The Cascade Rose, stitched with an exciting new zigzag cast-on stitch, pays tribute to the beautiful U.S. Pacific Northwest. Dewey MilleFlower beads sparkle at the heart of this stunning flower, a reminder of the beautiful wild rhododendrons that grow in the Coast and Cascade Mountain Ranges from British Columbia to Monterey, California.
The mist-covered foothills of these same mountains sparkle in Oregon Mist flowers; and Oregon’s Western Wood Anemone, a native of the West’s coastal forests adds a touch of elegance. The salmonberry, a relative of thimbleberry and raspberry, grows from Alaska to California; its showy magenta double daisy flower blossoms nestling around plump golden needlewoven berries. A shower of lazy daisy leaves, sparkling silver curling sprays and dots of beady mist complete the design.

Design: 6” x 6”
A floral landscape hides little critters – a kitty, a bunny, an owl, and new, tiny 22-Stitch* (*Give-or-Take A Stitch) flower fairies – among 17 flowers. Framing the design are Millefiori’s new Cascade Blossom, Punctuation Lace Rose, Ruffled Chantilly Rose, Braided Lace Buttercups, a variation of Gayl Ratigan’s 1-2/3-2 “Drizzle with Integrity,” used for the large ferns (and a wonderful addition to any other Brazilian dimensional embroidery design), and foliage stitched with an original – the Millefiori ridged blanket stitch. You’ll also learn the self-padding raised close herringbone stitch developed by Erica Wilson and/or Margaret Boyles and favorite Brazilian dimensional embroidery leaf stitches. The wishing well roof is made with cast-on stitches and the brickwork and bucket with its realistic chain add to the design. Flower fairies, wearing sparkling gold metallic thread, admire the Aztec Lily, Black-eyed Susan, Buddleia, Coneflower, Hollyhocks, Lantana, Michelmas Daisy, MilleFlower, Petunia and Tuxedo Flowers. Beads may be scattered throughout for added sparkle.
This 8” x 10” advanced-level design. perfect for a shadow box, is a companion print to Millefiori #926 “Garden Party”. A dimensional stitch guide and finishing instructions are included.
Design now out of stock.
“Come to the Circus!” Or if a carnival will do, here’s one for you! Flowers, flowers, flowers and showers of confetti delight unique circus acts. Tony the Tiger and Larry the Lion peek out from behind topical flowers as a high-wire act with two little bluebirdies – The Flying Winglendas (distant cousins of the famous Flying Wallendas) – entertain from on high.
Dimensional flowers abound – almost all new, but stitched with Brazilian embroidery techniques. Step right up! In the upper corner we have a Balloon Flower. The lower corner is anchored with a Merry-Go-Round Mum. Other flowers are Carnival Carnations, Busy Lizzie Carousel flowers, Harlequin Rose, Hot Buttered Popcorn Plant, and Cascade Circus Blossoms, all blended together with a sparkling shower of colorful tiny beads.
If you enjoy stitching designs with a circus theme, see Millefiori #884 “Itty Bitty Clown”, available as a pdf file with full-color instructions and traceable pattern for transferring to your choice of fabric. A stitch guide and finishing suggestions are included with all Millefiori designs.
The very tall and beautiful pink garden perennial, Astrantia, is also known as Masterwort, Melancholy Gentleman or Hattie’s Pincushion. Its beautiful seed pods are often used in dried arrangements. This flower is translated into Brazilian dimensional embroidery using the delightful and original drizzleberry technique that I developed a few years ago for the Millefiori Oriental Poppy (#948 “Patty’s Plum") and a double peony (#950 "Drizzleberry Punch"). In addition, a new arrangement of cast-on stitches is used to complete other Astrantia flower varieties on this design, and the seed pods are finished with beadwork, satin and cast-on stitches.
Hiding in the shadows of leaves and stems edged with the versatile Brazilian couching technique are two very cute little “pincushion” hedgehogs, stitched with Rosalie’s original barbed bullions and beady little eyes and noses. A stitch guide and finishing suggestions are included with all Millefiori designs. This is an advanced level Brazilian embroidery design.
Size: 6” x 8”
If you like cast-on stitches and if you like satin stitching, you will love this design!
A beautiful lacewing butterfly is framed with several new flower techniques. The lacewing butterfly was found on the Internet and has been adapted to Brazilian dimensional embroidery using satin stitch, cast-on, backstitch and some beadwork. Flowers include the all new Ruffled Chantilly Rose with an interesting arrangement of cast-on stitches, an Almond Blossom that combines satin, fly, bullions, up-down cast-on and up-down drizzle stitches, the Punctuation Lace Rose made with the comma, China Pinks that combine bullion and running cast-on stitches with a stacked bead center, Candle Blossoms and Glory Lace, stitched with the locking detached buttonhole stitch. Pale yellow field flowers with Ciré fly stitch leaves and stems in two coordinating greens complete the design. A stitch guide and finishing suggestions are included.
The American Beauty Rose, introduced in the U.S. in 1886, is a long-blooming, strongly-scented deep pink hybrid perpetual rose and is stitched here with a new variation of the traditional Brazilian embroidery bullion rose. Ciré and a Millefiori original, the raised buttonhole stitch, add extra dimension to this perpetual beauty.
A stitch guide and finishing suggestions are included with all Millefiori designs.

Design now out of stock. How many ways can one make a lazy daisy stitch? Let us count the ways.
An elegant dynasty of noble midsummer-blooming flowers graces this Brazilian dimensional embroidery design. Attending the regal Queen Anne’s Lace are her royal court – two spectacular Duchess Dahlias, heirloom Esther Reed/Shasta Daisies and a lovely Princess Flower. ‘Royal Velvet’ Crepe Myrtle and delightful Daisy Maiden Flowers dance through the design as Maidenhair and Lady Ferns hover in the background.
Several variations of the ever-popular lazy daisy stitch are used for both flowers and leaves. In addition to the traditionallazy daisy, other techniques include the reverse lazy daisy, side fly stitch leaf, one-step leaf and stem, lazy satin daisy, and the Brazilian or two-step lazy daisy. A stitch guide and finishing suggestions are included with all Millefiori designs. This intermediate-advanced level design is perfect for class teaching.
Design: 6½” x 8½”
Several original and advanced-level stitches are included: the crisscross satin stitch, Brazilian outline stitch, raised buttonhole stitch, Star-Fill, the barbed bullion, and a Millefiori favorite named “Stretch.” It’s a real temptation to embellish this design with beads and other sparklies, but no beads are used in the design as shown – the beautiful rayon floss does the job all by itself!
If you like sweets, take a look at Millefiori design #919 “Sweet Treats”, another calorie/stitch filled way to forget your diet.

This turkey nestles into some vitamin-rich fruits and veggies – apples and oranges, pumpkins and pears, realistic grapes (because they are “grown” with 6° seed beads). Learn how to make perfectly uniform, No-Kink Cast-on Stitches, and play with the blended leaf, traveling tendril and crisscross satin stitch. This is an exciting little design that you’ll use from year to year to enhance a small tablescape to decorate your home each holiday season.

So who isn’t a “fan of flowers”, especially a Brazilian embroidery stitcher! This fan is stitched with three versions of Rosalie’s Picot Rose using the original Picot-Cast-on stitch. Also featured on this design are the Twisty Ribbon Stitch and the lovely new Cascade Blossom. Interesting tips for leaf-stitch and satin stitching with Lola, as well as the application of beads to embellish the fan are included.
Colors used for the design as shown may be replaced with cream and gold or all white with touches of silver or the stitcher’s color choice. Delica and triangle beads are suggested, but Swarovski 3mm pearls may substituted. This intermediate-to-advanced level design includes a dimensional stitch guide and suggestions for finishing.

“The Balance of Nature” is about the food chain as it relates to Brazilian embroidery and was inspired by the children’s rhyme, “There Was An Old Woman Who Swallowed A Fly…”
The magnificent owl, a bird of the night but also a bird of prey, is associated with wisdom. Our owl is wise enough to capture some interesting floss creatures and flowers in Brazilian embroidery along with his lunch and their lunch and their lunch, etc. Innards include another kitty cat, a bird and a mouse that already has an “+” on its eye, plus sunflowers, monarda, asclepias and zinnia. The owl’s perch is a realistic log resting on a bed of ferns stitched with the Ridged Blanket Stitch. Other stitches include the Brazilian lazy daisy, using a technique first introduced by Maria Freitas on her “Birds” design, and an interesting method of making directional flowers. A stitch guide and finishing suggestions are included with all Millefiori designs. This is an intermediate-advanced level Brazilian embroidery design.
The design package includes screen-printed fabric, and the artistic stitcher has the option of framing the owl with a nicely-plump, well-fed kitty cat which can be embroidered or the enclosed pattern used for transfer to a wooden plaque. Instructions include ideas for finishing the “kitty frame” with paint, embroidery, quilting or needle punch.

CATS ? There are CATS in this garden!
Well, you have to look pretty hard to see most of them – some are sleeping, some are watchful, and some are just enjoying each other’s company. So far, they haven’t trampled any of the flowers, so you can begin stitching.
Many flowers on this design are from Millefiori Flower and Veggie Patch designs, but several new flowers and techniques are also introduced. Flowers include astilbe, butterfly weed, coral bells, gazania, innocence, lupines, Michelmas daisy, monarda, night-scented stock, phlox, thalictrum, thrift, vetch and zinnia. The trellis background of this design is framed with Rosalie Wakefield’s original Interlocking Stem Stitch.
This companion print to #952 “Sunbonnet Sue’s Sassy Sister” and #956 “Come Into My Flowers” is sold with a color photo, stitch guide, all instructions in full detail and finishing suggestions. This is an intermediate to advanced level Brazilian embroidery design.
Design: 8” x 10”
Her sister is a sedate young lady who graces vintage quilts and demurely involves herself in ladylike domestications. But Sunbonnet Sue has a sister who is quite sassy – her name is Sunflower Sue! She loves her garden, constantly tending her flowers with her pet poodle Roy at her side. She’s bright and lively and enjoys soaking up the garden’s color as she makes her way to the rose arbor with a basket of flowers (and a current novella, iced tea and chocolates) in one hand and Roy in the other. Unsure of Roy’s intentions, her pet kitten keeps a safe distance.
Many flowers on this design are from the Millefiori Flower and Veggie Patch designs, but several new flowers and techniques are also introduced. Flowers include clematis, foxglove, hellebore, hollyhocks, and petunias (all new), and lavender, lupine, Michelmas daisies, night-scented stock, poppies and roses. The design is framed with Rosalie Wakefield’s original Interlocking Stem Stitch.
This companion print to #953 “Guardians of the Garden” and #956 “Come Into My Flowers” is sold with a color photo, stitch guide, all instructions in full detail and finishing suggestions. This is an intermediate to advanced level Brazilian embroidery design.
Ten butterflies and eleven different flowers – many new – wind themselves around the new Mossy Branch border in this garden of Brazilian dimensional embroidery stitching wonders where lilacs and buddleia, hypericum and scabiosa, silene, asclepias, crepe myrtle and creeping phlox, goldenrod, dog violets and starry eyes exist only for the pleasure of the butterflies, their colorful flight sparkling amid the flowers.
Design: 12” x 12”
A double pink peony is the inspiration for the new drizzleberry stitch. This original new dimensional technique is used to stitch the peony center, and is also useful for flower centers in poppies (#948 Patty's Plum), astrantia (#967, Hattie’s Pincushion) or camellias. In this design you’ll use different floss weights to create the prominent stamen of the cosmos, and you will also use the technique as a stand-alone flower such as the drizzlebuds.
Other stitch ideas used in this small floral include Rosalie Wakefield’s Lazy-Satin-Daisy, the delicate Lady Fern Couching and Reverse Lazy Daisy, plus the up-down cast-on, and colonial knots. A color photo, stitch guide and finishing suggestions are included with all Millefiori designs. This is an intermediate-advanced level Brazilian embroidery design.
Design: 5” x 6”
Pastel sweet peas climbing a garden trellis are stitched with Rosalie Wakefield’s original ridged blanket stitch, buttonhole stitch and a new variation of the buttonhole-stitched bullion that solidly fills in each petal. Satin leaves are stitched with shaded floss to add light and movement to foliage, and Travelin’ Tendrils add further realism to the design.

The other flowers include valley lilies with a special cast-ons method and asters that are completed with unique lazy daisy stitches.
