Each year the Brazilian Dimensional Embroidery International Guild, Inc., pays tribute to a Flower of the Year. The Celtic Rose was my contribution for the year 2001.
This versatile little design is an optical illusion – easier to stitch than it appears! Frost is used for the design as shown, but Lola or Glory may be substituted to re-size the flower. The intricate inter-weaving of the bullion stitches brings this rose to life, and one petal of the rose is used as a corner border motif with the original braided Brazilian outline stitch.
Design: 4" x 5". Instructions for The Celtic Rose may be found in the book, My LadyFlowers by Rosalie Wakefield.
